Nerdz Warhammer 40K Slow Grow Rules

Welcome to the Nerdz Warhammer 40K Slow Grow. This event is designed to provide an entry point for new players into the hobby and an easy space for veteran players to try out new armies and builds. During each month of the Slow Grow players are asked to build and paint 500 points of miniatures to be played in a tournament event at the end of the month. The first tournament will feature 500 point Combat Patrol games. The points total for matches will increase by 500 points each month, culminating in the fourth month with 2000 point Strike Force matches. The following rules are in effect for the duration of the Slow Grow:
- Participants are encouraged to paint models within the one month period preceding each tournament. Remember that the purpose of a Slow Grow is to provide an easy entry point for new players and a place to experiment for veteran players. Using already painted miniatures from a pre-existing collection is against the spirit of the Slow Grow.
- We encourage participants to paint their armies to battle ready standard, and base them. You can still play and have fun with a partially painted, or unpainted army, but will not receive the traditional points received by each battle ready army competing in “Match Play.”
- Army lists must be input into Battlescribe to ensure appropriate points costs are used. You must also be able to provide opponents and tournament organizers with a copy of your army list the day of any tournaments.
- You cannot remove models that you have included in your army list for a previous tournament. However, you may change the load out on any of your models between tournaments. All loadout changes must be made before the start of the tournament, and must be reflected in your army list for that tournament. This means that you may change, where possible, the following for each unit in your army:
- Weapons
- Other wargear
- Relics
- Psychic powers
- Subfaction alignment
- Any other aspect of the unit that has multiple options on it’s data sheet
Make sure that your modifications are permitted by the datasheet for the model, and that these changes do not cause you to exceed the maximum allowed points for the specified tournament.
- “Kitbashing” and customization of models is permitted, but please ensure that your model is roughly the same size as the original model, and fits on the intended base
We look forward to seeing your painting skills, and watching you command your army. Hope to see you competing in Nerdz Cafe’s first Warhammer 40K Slow Grow.
